Photonic temperature and pressure sensors for biosystems/pulsed microwave. Part 1: Interaction studies
Abstract
This report details research efforts at the Naval Research Laboratory into the development of miniature, high frequency, optical fiber pressure and temperature sensors for use in monitoring transient pressure and heating in biological samples under microwave irradiation. The first sections of the report describe the various pressure and temperature sensor configurations studied and/or tested experimentally. Section B reports the results obtained with field tested (at Walter Reed) prototype sensors, and Section C describes the operational details and calibration of the temperature and pressure sensor units for delivery to Walter Reed.
