A prototype high speed electronic imaging system for aeroballistics research and analysis
Abstract
Requirements for electronic imaging and analysis systems were determined and used as the basis of a prototype system, which was built to prove the concepts involved. Results from the cameras and imaging system are shown and discussed. The higher-than-expected costs of cameras having the required resolulion led to a reevaluation of the project. Techniques for reducing resolution requirements, and thus reducing camera costs, by using centroid and second-moment-of-inertia algorithms, are shown. Results are compared with those of the previously used film system and those of a higher resolution CCD camera.
