Dynamical evolution of globular clusters
Abstract
Theoretical models of globular-cluster evolution are examined analytically, summarizing the results of recent investigations. The emphasis is on aspects which have been studied in sufficient detail to permit presentation of a coherent and somewhat realistic theory. An overview of the observational data is given, and chapters are devoted to velocity changes produced by stellar encounters, the evolution of idealized models, the dynamical evolution of the standard model, the effects of external fields, encounters with binary stars, and the late phases of cluster evolution.
