Photon-assisted formation and cooling of molecular hydrogen
Abstract
Photon assisted reactions are discussed for forming molecular hydrogen ions from protons and hydrogen atoms using free bound absorption of the collision complex. The possibility is discussed also of forming very weakly bound, electronically excited H2(+) molecules in collisions between two electrons and two protons. A third topic explores stimulated Raman scattering as a technique to cool internal excitation of the molecules.
