Diamond at high pressures - Raman scattering of light, equation of state, and a high pressure scale
Abstract
The paper presents the results of investigations of first-order Raman scattering and of X-ray measurements of the density of diamond at pressures up to 42 GPa. The measurement results made it possible to calculate the Gruneisen constant for the LTO(G) vibrational mode of the diamond directly; it turned out to be independent of the density up to pressures of about 40 GPa. A new high pressure scale is proposed which is based on an 'a priori' equation of state of diamond.
