Light cone in linear and nonlinear field theories
Abstract
In linear theory, the light cone of the Minkowski space M4 is shown to coincide with the singularity surface of the tachyon solution to the Dalembert equation. In a nonlinear field, the singularity surface of the corresponding solution in the space M4() may change, being transformed, depending on the sign of the nonlinearity constant, to one of the two hyperboloids of revolution for which the former cone surface is just an asymptotic form of infinite times. Particularly interesting changes may occur at small scales in the vicinity of the r=xO=0 point.
