The dependence of the rotation periods P of chemically peculiar stars of different types (CP) on their age and their distribution of the periods is studied. The author found axial deceleration of the CP stars. He assumed that the deceleration has occurred in the period of evolution before the main sequence, and the angular momentum loss is due to accretion or mass loss with magnetic field participation. The well known fact of anticorrelation of the field strength and the angular velocity is naturally explained by the deceleration effect depending on the magnetic field value. It is found that the initial rotation periods of CP stars in this case must be in the range of 1 - 2 days.
