Theoretical and experimental investigation of a double-pass CO2-amplifier with a PC mirror
Abstract
The energy characteristics, spatial structure, and radiation pulse shape in a double-pass photoionization-type CO2-laser amplifier with a phase-conjugation mirror based on four-wave mixing in SF6 were investigated experimentally. Distortions introduced by the amplifier in the single-mode signal beam are compensated when the output radiation intensity is of the order of the saturation intensity. The experimental results are compared with the calculated radiation characteristics of a double-pass amplifier in the framework of a two-level active-medium model with stationary saturation of the transition.
