Quantum electron glass
Abstract
A model of localized interacting electrons is studied numerically, under conditions in which the electron wave functions significantly overlap in space. A Coulomb gap in the one-particle density of states is found to persist throughout the localized regime. From the calculated rise of a quantum-mechanical order parameter, and from the increase in the number of metastable ``pseudoground'' states, evidence is obtained of a glass transition, occurring at zero temperature, as the overlap is varied.
