a Determination of the Asymptotic d- to S-State Ratio of the LITHIUM-6 Alpha-Deuteron Cluster Wavefunction.
Abstract
The cross-section and all 4 analyzing powers, T_{20}, T_ {21}, T_{22} and iT_{11}, of the alpha-^6Li elastic scattering at ^6Li incident energies of 19.6 MeV and 5.5 MeV have been measured. The cross-section and the tensor analyzing power data were used to determine eta, the asymptotic D- to S-state ratio of the ^6Li to alpha + d cluster wavefunction, using the pole extrapolation method first proposed by Amado et al ^{(1) }. We were able to extract meaningful values for eta using the T_{20 } and T_{22} data taken at ^6Li incident energy of 5.5 MeV. We did not obtain eta using the T_{21} analyzing power at ^6Li incident energy of 5.5 MeV because of the inconsistency in the 3 most back angle data points. We were unable to use the 19.6 MeV data because the angular distributions on the cross-section and analyzing powers have too much structure. We conclude that eta = -0.011 +/- 0.005. ftn^{(1) }R. D.
