a Factorisation of Collinear Singularities.
Abstract
Available from UMI in association with The British Library. Requires signed TDF. We demonstrate that the mass singularities of massless deep inelastic scattering can be factorised by a diagrammatic method based on the subtraction of collinear singularities in light-cone gauge. The method is applicable to all orders in perturbation theory and to any arbitrary but fixed order in power corrections. It generalises previous works which studied leading powers to all orders and arbitrary powers at the tree level, and conforms to the results expected from the operator product expansion. We give all the operator matrix elements, with general colour structure, that contribute to deep inelastic scattering up to and including order (1/Q^2), including the flavour singlet ones. We verify that a particularly simple gauge covariant form of the tree-level non-singlet operator matrix elements holds to all orders in perturbation theory; however, this result does not apply to singlet operators which have a more complicated, though still gauge covariant, form.
