The Circumstellar Envelopes of Young Stellar Objects and Emission Line Stars.
Abstract
We present high resolution measurements of infrared emission lines in several T Tauri stars, the luminous emission line star MWC 349A, and the Be star gamma Cas. We use these observations to study the physical conditions in the line forming regions, and discuss implications for models of the circumstellar envelopes. We report the first detection of CO bandhead emission in DG Tau. The MWC 349A spectra identify both ionized and neutral gas emission regions. The line profiles indicate a complex envelope velocity field, which we interpret as resulting from a rotating disk and bipolar outflow. The measured emission lines of gamma Cas are consistent with disk models of Be star envelopes.
