Effect of easily ionizable materials on the population of the metastable state A3Sigma(+)u N2 in the plasma of a self-maintained volume discharge
Abstract
The effect of easily ionizable triethylamine on the population of A3Sigma(+)uN2 state in the plasma of a high-pressure self-maintained volume discharge was studied experimentally. It is shown that the additive leads to a decrease in the population of the A3Sigma(+)u state in the discharge plasma. A 20-fold decrease in the population over 100 nanoseconds is explained by a change in the electron energy distribution function due to inelastic losses on the additive molecules.
