'Maximon' and 'minimon' in the light of a possible formulation of the concept of an 'elementary particle'
Abstract
The paper discusses a possible definition of the concept of an 'elementary particle' which would include all the particles that have at various times been designated as elementary in the literature (e.g., nucleons and baryons). A theory is considered in which a 'maximon' (a particle of maximum mass in the mass spectrum of 'elementary particles') determines the numerical value of a 'minimon' (a particle of minimum, though nonzero, mass).
