On the Gluonic Correction to LeptonPair Decays in a Relativistic Quarkonium Model
Abstract
The gluonic correction to the leptonic decay of the heavy vector meson is investigated by using the perturbation theory to the order alpha _s. The onmassshell approximation is assumed for the constituent quarks so that we assure the gauge independence of the correction. The decay rates in the model based on the BetheSalpeter equation are also shown, in which the gluonic correction with a highmomentum cutoff is calculated for the offshell quarks. It is shown that the static approximation to the correction factor (116 alpha _s /3pi) is not adequate and the gluonic correction does not suppressbut enhance the decay rates of the ground states for the c bar{c} and b bar{b} systems.
