A liquid-helium-cooled far-infrared grating spectrometer for a balloon-borne infrared telescope.
Abstract
A liquid-helium-cooled far-infrared grating spectrometer has been developed for a 50-cm balloon-borne infrared telescope. The spectral coverage is from 50 μm to 110 μm, with the spectral resolution of 0.5 μm to 0.35 μm. The diaphragm aperture is 2 arc min in diameter when attached to the telescope. This spectrometer was used in two balloon observations made in March 1985 and in August 1986 in Australia.
