Evaluation of secondary ion beam transport properties in plasma desorption mass spectrometry
Abstract
The properties of a time of flight system for 252Cf plasma desorption mass spectrometry were evaluated by computer simulation. Among the different factors that contribute to mass resolution and detection efficiency of the secondary ions, geometrical misalignments and electric field inhomogeneities are discussed.
