Abstract
This work constitutes a supplementary course of theoretical physics and astrophysics, with emphasis on problems of microscopic and macroscopic electrodynamics. Particular attention is given to the Hamiltonian method in electrodynamics; radiation emitted by relativistically and nonrelativistically moving charges; synchrotron radiation; continuum electrodynamics; Cerenkov and Doppler effects; superluminal radiation sources; permittivity and wave propagation in plasmas; and the energy-momentum tensor and forces in macroscopic electrodynamics. Consideration is also given to cosmic-ray astrophysics, and to X-ray and gamma-ray astronomy.
