Octave bandwidth varactor-tuned oscillators
Abstract
The design of a new range of voltage-controlled oscillators covering octave bandwidths between 6 and 18 GHz is described. These small-size and low-weight oscillators are varactor-tuned and thus are inherently faster-tuning and more efficient than YIG-tuned oscillators. Model diagrams, circuit diagrams, and performance graphs are presented together with results for an octave-band oscillator (including data on frequency, tuning range, linearity, harmonics, and FM noise).
