Concepts in the design of frequency multipliers
Abstract
General concepts for selecting and using a semiconductor device as an element in a nonlinear circuit are discussed. The importance of properly terminating the device at all harmonic frequencies to achieve the desired circuit performance is stressed and is illustrated with an 8 to 16 GHz FET frequency doubler design, which achieved an avergage conversion loss of 3.5 dB.
