Studies on heating of the ionosphere during high power radio wave propagation
Abstract
Effects of heating of the ionosphere during high power radio wave propagation have been investigated theoretically. Inhomogeneities in density and temperature are introduced within the formulation through which the rate of heating as well as the ratio of the electron-ion temperature have been evaluated. Results are numerically analyzed for the E-region of the ionosphere. The variation of electron-neutral molecule collision frequency with height under the stated circumstances has been analyzed numerically for the same height range within the ionosphere. Different values of normalized electron temperature for different power output and frequencies have been determined.
