Neutron Star Cooling: Criticical Test of Dense Matter Physics
Abstract
The present critical discussion of recent developments in the theory of neutron star cooling emphasizes thermal conductivity and neutrino energy loss rate calculations. Attention is given to a comparison of cooling calculations with X-ray observations, advancements in the calculation of dense matter's thermal conductivity, and calcultations of the neutrino energy loss rates. Einstein Observatory observations are the primary basis of comparison for calculation results.
