The feasibility of using measurements of cosmic-ray intensity variations to determine terrain elevations is assessed. It is shown that, within the accuracy limits, the vertical intensity gradient is equal to the barometric coefficient; hence, the measurement accuracy of elevations depends directly on variations of atmospheric pressure.
