Statistical investigation for binary frequency among pulsating variables based on the catalogue of bright stars in 1982.
The authors find that the binary frequencies of late-type giants and sub-giants are much lower than that of dwarfs and decrease gradually from 0.46 of F to 0.24 of K type, but that of early-type giants and subgiants are the same with that of dwarfs: about 0.50. They also find that the early-type pulsating variables have 10% to 20% more binaries than non variables within the same spectral range. This result is very important, especially for cepheids.
