The Conditions of Occurrence for the Instability of a Stellar Shell Source
Abstract
Based on the method proposed by A. Weigert for discussing when the instability will occur in the thermonuclear source of a star, the conditions of the occurrence of the instability phenomenon (also known as thermal pulsation) in a shell source are derived. The results show that the instability phenomenon appears when the shell source is quite thin and the ratio of its thickness to the radius is less than 0.37.
