Curves-Of of Emission Lines in Cometary Spectra - Implications for H2O and OH Bands of Comet p/ Halley

Curves of growth of emission lines are calculated for both parent and secondary species of comets assuming a Haser model distribution. Variations of these curves when varying input parameters is discussed. The technique developed is applied to the measurements of H₂O 2.7 and 1.38 μm bands by the Vega spacecraft and to OH 3090 Å band measurements by IUE. The evaluation of 10³⁰s^-1 for the H₂O total production rate on 1986 March 9 is obtained by this technique.
