Eclipsing Binary Stars
Abstract
Synoptic observations of binary stars are an essential tool for learning about the distribution and motions of circumstellar material in these systems. These observations are the only hope for obtaining the empirical estimates of mass and angular momentum loss rates in semidetached binaries which are required before further progress can be made in understanding mass exchange evolution of close binary stars.
