In the course of developing a sensor for simultaneous humidity and temperature sensing, surface acoustic wave (SAW) transducers were investigated for use as tools in characterizing materials of interest in sensing applications. A computer controlled test system is reported for characterizing oscillator based sensors and the utility of SAW oscillator measurements is demonstrated for gaining insight into sorption processes in glassy polymers.
