Video disc prototype for emergency operations
Abstract
The development of a prototype map database in video-disk format for use in facilitating U.S. Army Corps of Engineers teleconferencing during a large-scale emergency in the southwestern U.S. is reported. The database comprises 108,000 frames based on NOAA and FEMA products. The overall system includes keyboard or light-pen access software; indexing software; communications and graphics software; and workstation hardware (XT personal computer, video-disk player, color monitor, and high-resolution graphics board with light pen). Drawings and block diagrams are included.
