Electronic technology - The CNES approach to quality control for standardized technologies
Abstract
The techniques employed by the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales to ensure quality in the packaging of space-rated electronic devices are summarized. Although consideration is given to three categories of device components, emphasis is placed on quality monitoring for standardized technologies such as hard-soldering, electrical connections, and encapsulation. The manufacturing operations are designed to yield products which can meet the in-space performance requirements of the end users. The methods are illustrated with a description of the documentation of appropriate soldering and cleanliness procedures for specific materials.
