Numerical modeling of unsteady viscous flow in a closed circular domain
Abstract
The numerical simulation of a quasi two dimensional turbulence in a rotating container is described. The analogy with atmospheric circulation phenomena is pointed out. The equations, the finite element network, and the initial values of the simulations are described. A PC-type computer was used, requiring 10 sec per iteration. The results obtained with some configurations differ considerably from currently admitted values.
