Experimental performance of high resolution direction-finding algorithms for phased arrays
Abstract
Experimental data from a 24-element S-band phased array is used to investigate the performance of non-linear algorithms in distinguishing close sources in the presence of high multipath levels. It is shown that, with suitable processing of the sample covariance matrix and using an estimate of the available degrees of freedom, sources can be distinguished at angular separations of less than half of a beamwidth.
