High-current beam dynamics and transport, theory and experiment
Abstract
Recent progress in the understanding of beam physics and technology factors determining the current and brightness of ion and electron beams in linear accelerators are reviewed. Topics to be discussed include phase-space density constraints of particle sources, low-energy beam transport including charge neutralization, emittance growth due to mismatch, energy exchange, instabilities, nonlinear effects, and longitudinal bunching.
