Capacity and performance of demand-assigned MC-TDMA systems
Abstract
Demand assignment can be implemented in multiple carrier TDMA (MC-TDMA) systems to make efficient use of satellite capacity. Bounds on the capacity of MC-TDMA systems with demand assignment are established. Two configurations of single channel per burst (SCPB) and multiple channel per burst (MCPB) are considered. Simulation results for the performance of an SCPB system using a simple scheduling algorithm show that for thin route applications this system performs almost as well as the optimal SCPB system.
