Simulation program SIM: Structure and application to fixed and mobile digital satellite channels
Abstract
The structure and capabilities of the simulation program system SIM are described. The simulation of a satellite channel is used as an example of its application. SIM is implemented on a VAX 8600 computer; the maximum length of the complex signal vector is 2 exp (16) = 65536 samples. It is concluded that SIM can be used for predictive 'simulation-aided design' of planned systems without performing expensive hardware experiments.
