Excitation of surface magnetostatic waves by a point current element
Abstract
The excitation of surface magnetostatic waves (SMSW) in a tangentially magnetized ferrite film by a tangentially oriented 'point' current element is analyzed. The method of stationary phase is used to derive asymptotic expressions for the magnetostatic potential and the magnetic and electric fields in the far zone. The directional patterns for the SMSW power flux density are calculated for a point radiator and for several types of radiators of finite size. The resulting magnetostatic Green function can be used to calculate the far-field radiation characteristics for an arbitrary planar SMSW antenna.
