The behavior of an axisymmetric shock wave near the cumulation point
Abstract
A theoretical study is made of inhomogeneous cumulative shock waves. It is shown that cumulation is characteristic of convergent axisymmetric (but not necessarily cylindrical) waves and has an infinite nature when dissipation processes are neglected. Waves of this type can be generated not only during annular discharges but also in noncylindrical z-pinches.
