The communication antenna of the German telecommunication satellite DFS-KOPERNIKUS
Abstract
The broadband communication antenna of the DFS-KOPERNIKUS telecommunication satellite is presented. The antenna provides a coverage of the Federal Republic of Germany and Berlin with 10 communication channels, simultaneously downlink and uplink, using dual linear polarizations in the frequency ranges 11.45 to 11.70 GHz, 12.50 to 12.75 GHz, and 14.0 to 14.5 GHz. It is a very compact, double offset Gregorian antenna. The antenna and components design data and electrical specifications are presented. The especially low cross polarization of the feeder system and the high decoupling value contribute essentially to the fulfillment of all specifications of the global antenna system.
