Determination of the parameters of YIG epitaxial films
Abstract
Components of the magnetic permeability tensor are calculated for a YIG film with a (111) orientation when the external constant tangential magnetic field is directed along the 110 and 112 axes. Dispersion relations are presented for magnetostatic waves (MSW) propagating normal to the external field at small wavenumbers. A nondestructive method is proposed for the local determination of the saturation magnetization and anisotropy constants in epitaxial ferrite films of large dimension. This method, based on the measurement of the orientation dependence of the standing wave ratio of a strip converter exciting MSW in the film on the angle between the external field and a given axis in the film plane, can be used to determine the characteristics of microwave devices of MSW type.
