Magnetostatic spin wave damping in substrates
Abstract
Magnetostatic spin wave damping associated with dielectric and ohmic losses in substrates is investigated. It is shown that: (1) the magnitude of the losses in a Gd3Ga5O12 substrate for qualitative films is comparable with the magnitude of damping in the ferrite film itself; (2) the use of epitaxial films at reduced temperatures and at frequencies greater than 15-20 GHz at ordinary temperatures requires that diamagnetic materials are used for substrates. A comparison of theoretical and experimental data is carried out for magnetostatic spin wave surfaces.
