Estimation of angular coordinates in the presence of space-correlated noise in adaptive radar systems
Abstract
Exact solutions to the likelihood equation are obtained for estimates of the ratio of the transmission coefficients of adaptive direction-finding channels in the presence of space-correlated noise; and their relationship with orthogonal-regression estimates is established. Causes of the distortion of the direction-finding characteristic (DFC) are investigated, and ways to correct this distortion are determined. The adaptation of the difference channel with stabilization of the zero and slope of the DFC is carried out for a large class of unconditional and conditional methods for optimizing the detection channel.
