a Comparison of Direct Photons in Proton-Proton and Proton-Antiproton Interactions at SQRT.S = 53 GEV
Abstract
The production of single direct high transverse momentum (p(,T)) photons has been studied in proton-proton and proton-antiproton interactions. The ratio of (gamma)/(pi)(DEGREES) has been measured at SQRT.(s) = 53 GeV in the central rapidity region (VBAR)Y(VBAR) (LESSTHEQ) 0.4 and over the range 2.0 < p(,T) < 6.0 GeV/c in center of mass p(,T), at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings. No evidence is seen for a statistically significant difference in the (gamma)/(pi)(DEGREES) ratio between proton-proton and proton-antiproton interactions over this range in p(,T).
