a Method for the Calculation of Excitonic Effects in Certain Metals
Abstract
Due to the longrange screening behavior of electrons in metals, interactions between excited electrons and their corresponding holes are few and are generally ignored. In this thesis, I attempt to include this electronhole interaction into the calculation by randomly choosing a finite number of electrons to represent the hole and calculating the response of these chosen electrons to the excited electron. Calculations were done for lithium, sodium, potassium, calcium and aluminum.
