Calculation of the magnetic field in plasma space from the tangential component of the induction in a single plane
Abstract
A method to obtain all the components of the induction in the upper half-space from the given real parts of the tangential induction components in the plane Z=0 is presented. The starting point is the field equation for a force-free magnetic field of a vanishing Lorentz force. Relations for the induction in the upper half-space and for the imaginary parts of the tangential components in the plane Z=0 were deduced, using the vortices and double vortices of two vector fields. Formulas for the Cartesian and cylindrical coordinates are given for the numerical calculation of these relations. The errors of the numerical determination of the induction were estimated. The deduced relations were numerically verified using a test field.
