Inductance per unit length of a microstrip antenna which generates surface magnetostatic waves
Abstract
An approximate solution of the plane magnetostatic problem is used to calculate the inductance per unit length of the microstrip antenna, without taking into account the currentdistribution characteristics in the strip cross section. The inductance per unit length is found to increase sharply in the frequency range where magnetostatic waves (MW) are excited effectively. In the range of frequencies above the upper boundary frequency of the MW spectrum, L becomes imaginary, which may be connected with the reported sharp increase in wave attenuation along the antenna in this frequency range.
