The onset of thermogravimetric convection in a two-layer system in the presence of a surfactant on the interface
Abstract
A study is made of the effect of a surfactant on the onset of thermogravimetric convection in a system of two horizontal layers of inmiscible liquids. It is found that, in a certain surfactant concentration region, the instability is oscillatory. The influence of the Marangoni effect on thermogravimetric oscillations is discussed.
