The relative abundance of nitrogen and oxygen in the type II supernovae.
Abstract
Two estimates of the upper limit of the N/O ratio are obtained by two methods from optical spectra of the type II supernovae SN 1970g and SN 1969l. In both cases N/O < 1 unlike the higher ratio N/O > 2 found earlier for SN 1979c. This difference is suggested to be due to the smaller mass of the envelope of the SN 1979c as compared with the former two supernovae.
