Astrometry and photometry of Comet Halley 1982i
Abstract
Results of astrometric and photometric observations of Halley's comet with an 1-m telescope are given. Photometric parameters M0 and n are determined. It is obtained that the brightness of the comet increased slowly (n ≈ 1) in the heliocentric distance range 11 - 8 a.u. and significantly more faster (n ≈ 6) in the range 8 - 4 a.u. This behaviour at large distances may be explained by formation of dust clouds, so that not the nucleus itself but a pseudo-nucleus is observed the size of which diminishes as the gas sublimation rate rises. At small distances the brightness is controlled by the common gas-and-dust atmosphere.
