Two new nearby faint red stars.
Abstract
Two faint red proper-motion stars without previous parallaxes are found to be nearby and to have visual absolute magnitudes fainter than 15. One, LHS 288, is within 5 parsecs of the Sun; LHS 1070 is a mild M subdwarf at a distance of less than 10 parsecs. Photometry is presented for both objects and a spectrum for LHS 1070 is included.
