Fast orthogonal calibration of a ring laser strapdown system
Abstract
The accurate and efficient calibration technique presented for ring laser strapdown systems estimates gyro errors independently of the accelerometer errors. In addition, rotation sequences are designed to furnish maximum sensitivity and reduce total test time. A pair of calibration test diagrams has also been developed to facilitate calibration procedure design. An efficient Kalman technique is used to relevel the system and simultaneously yield a more accurate estimate of the tilts. The new procedures have yielded greater error estimation accuracy while reducing test time and cost.
